Connect your own domain
Point a domain you own (from GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare or any other provider) at your Darvix site. The secure https padlock is set up for you.
Before you start
- You need to own the domain, and be able to log in to the company you bought it from
- Have your domain provider's DNS settings page ready in another tab
Steps
- 1
Enter your domain
Go to Mark → Settings → Domains (or the Custom Domain card on Overview). Type your domain without www, for example yourbusiness.com, and click Continue.
- 2
Add the records at your domain provider
Darvix shows the exact values to copy. Add them in your provider's DNS settings:
| Type | Name / Host | Value | Needed? |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | @ | The IP address shown in Darvix | Yes |
| CNAME | www | Your domain, e.g. yourbusiness.com | Optional, so www.yourbusiness.com works too |
- 3
Tell Darvix you're done
Click I've added the records, then Verify DNS.
- 4
Wait for the padlock
Once verified, Darvix sets up the secure certificate by itself. The first visit to your domain can take a few seconds while it's issued.
Good to know: DNS changes can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 48 hours to spread. If Verify DNS says the record isn't pointing to us yet, wait a while and try again.
Heads up: Using Cloudflare? Set the record to DNS only (grey cloud), not Proxied, or verification and the secure certificate won't work.
Common questions
Why can't I enter www.yourbusiness.com?
Darvix connects the main domain (yourbusiness.com). Add the optional www record from the table above and visitors who type www will reach your site as well.
I clicked “Skip for now”. Is my domain connected?
Not yet. The domain only works after Verify DNS succeeds. Go back to Mark → Settings → Domains and verify it.
What happens if my paid plan ends?
Custom domains need a paid plan, so your domain stops showing the site. Your free darvix.site address keeps working.
